Course content

In this course, you will apply the knowledge and skills you gained from the previous courses in iOS Swift to fulfill the requirements of the Capstone project. Specifically, you will design and develop a mobile application using Swift which will be subject to review by yourself as well as your peers.

To complete this course, you will need experience in iOS and a good understanding of the Swift programming language.

The course is designed to be completed over a period of three weeks, during which you will go through setup and planning steps, write code for the application’s core functionalities and complete a series of assessment tasks. The content covered is as follows:

Module 1: Starting the project

In the first week, you will set up your project for development and engage in planning and design activities. By the end of the module, you will demonstrate that you are able to:

• Set up a repository and push commits to it

• Set up the file and folder structure for your project

• Explain key principles of UX and UI as they apply to mobile applications

• Design wireframes using Figma

• Design and style the core components of your app in alignment with UI (User Interface) design fundamentals

Module 2: Project functionality

In the week that follows, you will implement functionality in your app in a way that makes it both usable and useful. By completing the lesson items, you will demonstrate that you know how to:

• Design and implement an onboarding process for new users.

• Design a navigational flow between the screens of your app

• Implement a navigation interface

• Fetch data from the network and store it in a database

• Render data in the app in a way that allows information to be sorted and filtered

Module 3: Project assessment

In the final module, you will be assessed on the fundamental skills covered as you build the capstone project's functionality.

You'll have the opportunity to:

• Compare your code and your designs with your peers via a peer review

• Work through a solution to some of the most challenging parts of the capstone project

At the end of this module, you'll complete a graded assessment, reflect on your learning and be guided to the next steps in your coding journey.
